By accessing or using My Lilac Books ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you do not have permission to access the Service.
2. Description of Service
My Lilac Books is a subscription-based service that allows users to:
- Scan book barcodes using their device camera
- Look up book information using ISBN numbers
- Build and manage a personal digital book library
- Access their library across multiple devices
3. User Accounts
Registration
To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.
Account Security
You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms.
4. Subscription and Payment
Pricing
The Service is offered at £2.99 per month. Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice. Occassionally there will be special offers for a set period of time, after which the Service resumes at £2.99 per month.
Billing
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings . Upon cancellation, you will retain access until the end of your current billing period.

5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Upload malicious code or content
- Scrape, data mine, or extract data from the Service
- Resell or redistribute the Service without permission
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
6. Intellectual Property
Our Content
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by My Lilac Books and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service (such as book notes or book photographs). By submitting content, you grant us a licence to use, store, and display that content as necessary to provide the Service.
Third-Party Content
Book information retrieved through the Service (titles, authors, descriptions, cover images) is sourced from third-party databases and remains the property of their respective owners.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Defects will be corrected
- The Service is free of viruses or harmful components
- Book information retrieved will be accurate or complete
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LILAC BOOKS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.
Our total liability for any claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless My Lilac Books and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
