Scan your books
Scan your books using the ISBN barcode on the back of all modern books.
When the ISBN has been scanned successfully, we look it up in the Google Books database, which returns the title, author(s), publisher, and published date. It then goes directly into your database of books you have.
Search and filter
You can search for a book you have, set each book to "sold or given away" and also you can set the "I've read this" setting.
You can also add notes on what you thought of the book at the time.
Database
Your database of books is kept in the cloud, securely, so it is not all in your phone (like some Apps do).
You can also take photos of the scanned book, so you can see the back cover, inside pages, etc.
Subscription
The first five books are free; after that, then we offer a subscription of £2.99 per month (secured by Stripe) for unlimited books and photos of your books (up to six per book).

Security
We have gone to some lengths in securing the website and your database. This can mean that you get logged out every now and then, but it is all in a good cause!
For extra security, we log you out after about eight hours anyway. And for extra security, we ask you to keep using the same "device" (i.e., your phone, laptop, computer, et al) to do all things here. If you forget your password, we have a forgot password option that sends you a link by email. This has to be clicked on the same device too (and within 20 minutes), sorry!
History
We came up with this idea when we were selling books to the good people of BookLoop. We wanted to record what books we have, what we thought of them and whether we'd read them or not.
My Lilac Books is also useful if you are in a bookshop and want to see if you already own a book that takes your fancy.
